A presentation about building green
(and definitely not Architecture)
Prof Chris Turley will be presenting to homeowners on how to select the right “green” technology for their vintage buildings – and to do so without destroying the soul of their home. This presentation is a technical primer for the public – a chance for the public to learn about the technologies that are available to them and ideas to overcome the challenges that working on vintage buildings in the code-restrictive urban environment presents.
50 SHADES OF GREEN – FINDING THE RIGHT GREEN FOR THE HOUSE YOU LOVE
When a new but inexperienced homeowner buys an old historic home she encounters a building that is breathtakingly beautiful, brilliant … and intimidating. Unworldly, she innocently embarks on an unexpected journey that takes her to a long neglected place. A passion is aroused and through the dirt and sweat she soon realizes that this is the one – she is alive and awake for the first time and wants to spend the rest of her life living within the space it creates, She is warned of its history of torment at the hands of demons yet she cares not: she yields her earlier design and green ideas to its history and to its soul and, in the end, finds the right sustainability solutions to quell its esthetic disharmony, its hellacious energy demands, and its demonic unhealthfulness.

Create a home you love that is efficient and comfortable too. This presentation is gender neutral – you don’t have to be female nor have read the book. Neckwear not required. )
